Terrasat iBUC 2e C-Band (5–20W)
The Terrasat iBUC 2e C-Band is a family of compact, low-power outdoor block upconverters designed for professional satellite uplink applications where ODU power is supplied directly by the satellite modem. Covering output power levels from 5 W to 20 W, the iBUC 2e platform is optimized for power-limited VSAT, mobile, and remote installations, while maintaining full intelligent BUC functionality.
Unlike the standard iBUC 2 platform, the iBUC 2e requires no external AC or DC power connection. Its auto-ranging DC input is delivered exclusively through the TX IFL coaxial cable, simplifying installation and reducing system infrastructure requirements.
Key Capabilities
Supported C-Band Uplink Frequency Plans
Terrasat iBUC 2 C-Band BUCs support multiple uplink frequency plans depending on factory configuration:
Standard C-Band: 5.850 – 6.425 GHz
Extended C-Band: 5.850 – 6.650 GHz
Full C-Band: 5.850 – 6.725 GHz
Palapa C-Band: 6.425 – 6.725 GHz
INSAT C-Band: 6.725 – 7.025 GHz
(Exact frequency plan is defined at time of order based on the selected configuration.)
Output Power Range: 5 W to 20 W
Architecture: iBUC 2e (GaAs-based, modem-powered BUC platform)
Powering Method: DC power via TX IFL coax only
Applications: VSAT terminals, mobile systems, remote and power-limited SATCOM installations
Monitor & Control Options
Terrasat iBUC 2e C-Band BUCs are available with two Monitor & Control architectures:
IBR – Standard M&C
Ethernet-based monitoring and control
Web interface and SNMP
Suitable for commercial, enterprise, and broadcast networks
IBB – Cyber Hardened M&C
Cyber-hardened controller and firmware
Designed for government and defense networks
Enhanced security features per program requirements
Configurable Options
Terrasat iBUC 2e C-Band units are factory-configured. Typical configuration options include:
Output power level (5 W, 10 W, 15 W, 20 W)
C-Band frequency plan (standard, extended, or regional variants)
Spectral sense (non-inverting or inverting)
10 MHz reference (external via IFL or internal, depending on configuration)
IF connector type
Monitor & Control option (IBR or IBB)
Note: Final specifications depend on the selected configuration and are confirmed by Terrasat at time of order.
Powering & Installation
The iBUC 2e is powered entirely through the TX IFL coaxial cable using the modem’s ODU power supply. It draws less power from the modem than the standard iBUC 2 platform and does not require any external power connector.
System compatibility depends on the ODU power capacity of the selected modem, and installers should account for voltage drop over the IFL cable when determining maximum cable length.
Environmental Performance
Operating Temperature: –40 °C to +60 °C
Outdoor Operation: Designed for outdoor installation in fixed and mobile terminals
