The DTV Innovations Gryphon PVE-2 is a professional MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video encoder designed for television distribution, satellite news gathering, sports contribution and IP program delivery. Its intuitive front-panel controls and embedded web interface enable operators to configure contribution links and get on air in less than 60 seconds.

Gryphon PVE-2 supports analog composite, SD-SDI and HD-SDI video inputs with ASI and Gigabit Ethernet transport-stream outputs. Its advanced compression engine supports dynamic GOP, scene-change, fade and skin-tone detection to provide excellent video quality at low bitrates, including standard-definition satellite contribution at symbol rates as low as 1 MSymbol/s.

A software-license-based architecture allows the encoder to expand with changing operational requirements. Available options include HD encoding up to 1080p60, MPEG-2 4:2:2 profiles, additional audio channels, AAC audio, an internal multiplexer, BISS encryption and a DVB-CID-compliant DVB-S/S2 satellite modulator.
