The DTV Innovations Venom 2150 is a professional 1+1 L-band redundancy switch that provides high-availability protection for satellite modulators operating from 950 to 2150 MHz. It is compatible with the DTV Innovations Vyper 7, Gryphon encoders equipped with internal modulators, and third-party modulators that provide alarm-contact outputs.

In automatic mode, the Venom 2150 monitors the connected alarm contacts and switches to the backup RF input when a failure is detected. Switching takes approximately 100 ms under typical conditions and no more than 250 ms. Manual switching is available through the front panel, while LED indicators display equipment health and identify the RF input routed to the primary output.

The unit provides two 50-ohm SMA RF inputs, rear-panel primary and standby outputs, and front-panel monitor outputs for both signal paths. Web-based control, SNMP v2c and alarm outputs support integration with external network-management systems. Optional DVB-S/S2 input-stream monitoring enables redundancy switching based on signal quality.

Dual independent power supplies with separate AC inputs allow continued operation following a single power-supply failure. With an MTBF exceeding one million hours, low power consumption and a compact 1 RU chassis, the Venom 2150 is designed for mission-critical satellite uplink and broadcast facilities.
