The DTV Innovations BX-01 is a multifunction PCI Express x1 card that provides real-time processing of ASI and SMPTE-310M transport streams. Configurable as a multiplexer, seamless failover switch, data inserter or format converter, it combines several broadcast transport-stream functions in a compact, host-based solution.

The BX-01 provides two ASI or SMPTE-310M inputs and two outputs configurable for ASI or SMPTE-310M formats. In multiplexer mode, it combines two MPEG-2 transport streams into a single multiplexed output available in both formats. In failover mode, it monitors the primary and backup inputs and switches between them when a failure is detected.

Data-insertion capabilities support PSIP, subtitles, teletext, advertising and other auxiliary information. Automatic input-format and packet-size detection simplifies operation, while relay bypass on the primary input maintains signal continuity. A complete API provides detailed control and monitoring, and firmware can be upgraded through the local host computer.
